With the one year wedding anniversary on the horizon, I’m getting extremely anxious about moving into The House. (Oh, look at me, plugging my own posts!)
We should be able to move sometime in June (or earlier?), but since the renters are still in the house, we’re unsure of the exact date. IT’S MAKING ME CRAZY. Unfortunately, I have to be patient because the renters are moving out due to a less than ideal situation. I’m just extremely jittery about it. Even after they move out, we’ll still have some painting and cleaning to do before we can move in. Luckily, most of our things are still packed and in the in-laws’ basement, so it won’t be that difficult to actually move.
Once we move in, it’s going to be a while before things start feeling home-y. Even though we have a bar in the kitchen, we still want a small dining room table:

(Oh, how I love you, table.)
Once that is purchased, we’ll need a new bedroom suite and maybe even living room furniture that matches. One of the bedrooms will be a “creative room” for Josh to keep his guitar as well as for me to learn to sew and do some painting … another bedroom will be an office/guest bedroom, so we’ll need to get a desk of some sort. There are so many things I can’t wait to do, and I just want to get started. (And it’d be nice to take some pictures of the house to show you! I think the renters might get a little annoyed if I stand outside taking pictures.)
In the meantime, I’m trying to think of ways to feed my need to decorate … It’s impossible. I’m nearly tempted to by every household item on Etsy just in case.

I know how anxious you must be. It’s like it’s sitting there and it’s yours, but some people are in it and they can’t get out soon enough. It WILL happen though. Hopefully they will be out just in time for you to move in for your 1 year anniversary! And even if the house is totally ready to have all of your stuff, just move what you can (ie. the BED) so you can sleep there and celebrate your 1st year ALONE! Plus you can just tell his parents you are staying there to get more stuff done
Its so close!! You guys will have so much fun once you’re in, and in the mean time rabid etsy browsing sounds perfectly acceptable = )
Sounds fantastic. I can’t wait until I have a house, NOT an apartment to decorate =)
If you guys have Ashely Home Furniture nearby they have GREAT, quality pieces at really affordable prices. Love their stuff. They have it in all sizes/styles and etc.
Otherwise, enjoy the Etsy browsing!
That table is GOR. JUS.
Aww, that is exciting! It’ll be here before you know it!!
That table is GREAT! It looks a lot like my dining room table, tall and dark wood and I LOVE it!! Can’t wait to see pics of the house!
Maybe you can start a “design scrapbook”, where you cut and paste ideas you find so that way when you finally do move in you’ll have the whole scrapbook to look through for inspiration!
@Lilu & @Amber: Would you believe that the table is from Walmart?
Oo I love that table! Where did you find it?
@Rachie: It’s at Walmart (it can only be purchased online, but you can get it shipped to the store and pick it up) for only $279. It has a 5-star review, too! The link is above. I’m usually skeptical of buying furniture from Walmart, but they seem to be selling things that are less cheap… and their new Canopy line is amazing!
