Weekend Recap & Future Projects

My weekend was something of a jumbled mess, in all honesty. It disappeared much too quickly, and my days sort of meshed together.

Friday, right after work, I went straight to The House (click for some images) to finish some unpacking. We’ve only taken kitchen things down, and I have everything organized perfectly. (Of course, I’m sure it won’t last very long that way.) (Almost everything we have is brand new from our wedding. We never opened anything, since we knew we’d be living with Husband’s parents for some time.) While I washed every single dish before putting them in their proper place, Husband cleaned carpets. Ugh, the carpets.

The last renters had dogs. Two, little dogs. I like dogs, but I guess these dogs had a little issue with peeing everywhere. And I suppose the owners had some trouble cleaning things up properly. The smell is annoying, and we’re just trying to get it out before we move in completely. (Any suggestions?)

Anyway. We ended up going back to the in-law’s house around ten Friday night, and I was exhausted! We both slept until almost noon the next day, then we continued to clean at The House. I gave up early that night because I was just so tired, and I wanted to enjoy my weekend a little by being able to relax.

Sunday, we spent almost no time at The House, but we did buy a new shower curtain for the main bathroom, and a nice curtain for our bedroom. Today, I think Husband is planning on moving our televisions and maybe some couches down. We’ll be getting the DirecTV, internet, and phone turned on this week, so I want to move in as quickly as possible. I’d hate to be paying for something that we aren’t even using!

It’ll be nice to get moved in and unpacked. Once we’re settled, we have several projects we’re wanting to start.

  • Redecorating the main bathroom (which will be MY bathroom, mostly). I’m thinking about doing the colors in sage and brown. The walls will be a light sage, and the accessories will be dark brown. (I’ve already started by purchasing a chocolate brown fabric shower curtain!) (Suggestions are welcome!)
  • Husband would like to plant an herb garden in the front yard. I would like to plant a flower garden and spruce up the front porch a bit.
  • We’d like to eventually replace the carpet with new carpet OR hardwood/laminate wood flooring. This will be way down the line, though.

There are other things, I’m sure, but those are three things we’ll be focusing on. We may just have to take it one room at a time, though.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to sleep there at some point this week. I’m just looking forward to going home after work to a quiet, empty (aside from Husband) house.

P.S. Today is my half-birthday! I’ll be twenty-one (finally!) in six months.
