Generation Gap

by Megan on September 23, 2009

Occasionally, I forget that most people thirty years older than I aren’t quite as tech-savvy. While anything to do with technology is almost second-nature to me, it takes a while for some people to really “get it.” I remembered that today when I overheard this conversation in the cubicle next to me.

1st guy: “What is an ipod?”
2nd guy: “It’s a music player.”
1st guy: “What do you do with it?”
2nd guy: “You could download deer calls to use when you go huntin’.”

Honestly, I was already baffled/amused by the first sentence, but the rest is just icing on the cake. I mean, maybe that last sentence only happens in Tennessee. That conversation really made my day, though–and by “made my day,” I mean it nearly made me burst into a fit of giggles.

P.S. What makes it even funnier is the fact that these guys are engineers. I love my job.

Ha! I don’t even know what to say to that. I’d love to see someone download deer calls to his Ipod. That’d be hilarious.

LOL Could you imagine that iPod commercial? A guy in a hunting cap with a shotgun dancing around?

I want to make that, right away.

Oh wow. But good for the 2nd guy for trying to make the iPod relevant! That’s how I feel with my parents sometimes, trying to convince them to try new technology-related things.

LOL I really hope I don’t end up like these people when I’m an old geezer! I intend on staying in the loop.

Isn’t living around engineers grand? Life is just so much funnier in my opinion. The guys I live with are all engineers except for one. Heck, I plan to marry one. Life will be anything but boring.

I’d love to make that an iPod commercial though. There’s a way to bridge the gap to the good, old Georgia southern boy…
