Long Week Revisited

by Megan on September 25, 2009

I am so glad the weekend is nearly here. This week was the first week of the outage at work, and though I’ve worked my normal hours (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), I’ve been somewhat stressed. I have a couple papers to write (history and English), a test to take, some assignments to finsish, and discussions to participate in. It’s really not a lot, but I become anxious being at work all day when I know have things to get done.

Next week, I’ll be working a different shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m), and even though I would rather be at home during the evenings, I’m looking forward to sleeping in an extra hour or two. Not only that, but I think I work better in the mornings with school things.

After the outage (which should be over in less than a month, but they have been known to last longer), the company I work for is losing their contract with the place I work at. So. That means they’ll either transfer me to a new contractor here, or I’ll be on the search for a new job. I’m hoping it’s the former, obviously. I hate not knowing 100%, but I’m trying not to let stress overwhelm me, so I’m remaining optimistic.

In other news, we took Loki to the vet yesterday for the first time. He seemed a little stressed out, but they gave him two shots, and then we got him home quickly to relax. I was feeling anxious for him! He also has ear mites (poor baby!), but they gave us medicine that should clear it up in about a week.

Also, I’m so very glad that Grey’s Anatomy is back on. It’s the only show I watch regularly, so I’ve missed that little break from reality.

How has your week been?

P.S. I attempted a vlog the other day, but I feel really awkward talking to my computer screen. Any tips? (I even thought about getting Husband to vlog with me a la KylaRoma, but we all know that won’t happen. He just doesn’t “get” blogging.)

Aw, I hate that feeling of anxiety for school. The past week has been that for me. I had three assignments and 200 pages of reading to do, and engagement photos for a friend to finish editing. Last night when I finished it all? I hit save and immediately burst into a furious episode of hiccups. Sometimes I can keep myself so calm when I’m stressed that my stress comes out in different ways lol

Good luck clearing out the ear mites! They’ll be gone in no time. And vlogging is totally awkward. I’m always on the verge of laughing for mine cause it seems so silly- but at the same time I feel like it’s a more direct way to say hello. = )

Best way to vlog better is to vlog more often. Think of your audience.

Hopefully the job situation will be decided soon. I hate not knowing things like that, and a job is not something that’s fun to not know about. Worst-case scenario would suck, but from what I’ve gathered, you’re in/near a big city? So hopefully the job market there won’t be completely hopeless.

You’re extremely talented and I’m confident you’ll be ok.

Mine doesn’t “get” blogging either… but he’s okay with it, as long as he gets football time! :-)

Congrats on making it through the long week! Ear mites are no fun, but I’m sure Loki will be all better soon :) . We had a bout with worms…now that was gross :p.

Have a great weekend!

My advice on vlogging is just to keep trying. It’s still weird to talk to a camera, but you get more comfortable. I think it’s kind of fun.

It seems to be that time of the school year right now when things are getting worse. I’m definitely feeling the stress right now. I have a midterm and big hw assignment due next week, exam and a presentation the week after, and another exam the week after that! Good luck with your papers and tests!

I use to work those hours (3-11) and since I hadn’t before then I loved it. After doing it for almost a year I grew tired of never being at home during the evenings. I’m glad to be back working normal day time hours. Change is always nice tho. Good luck!

I can’t imagine vlogging either. Just talking to the little camera seems odd. Not to mention that I’m not a person who loves to talk to the camera.

Feeling your pain on school. Chaos is about to rule my life and I’m hunkering down like a bear that’s settling in for hibernation. I need to stay put and get some things accomplished this week.
