First of all, I am completely giddy right now. I just scheduled a lunch date for Sunday with one of my best friends from high school (whom I haven’t seen in probably close to a year!), and I’m almost ready to jump for joy. This is the first time I’ll have spent time with a friend in, well, close to six months. How sad is that? The only people I really ever spend my free time with is my sister or Husband … I rarely ever get out there to spend time with girl friends.
Jessica (or Jessa as I call her) and I have been friends since sophomore year of high school; she is one of those girls that you never get tired of. (I’ve had several friends that I just have to take breaks from.) We constantly have something to talk about, and she was always the one I turned to when I had a bit of drama in my life. She was the first person I skipped school with. (For the record, we went to the park to play on the swingset! While drinking Italian sodas.) Now, she has a beautiful daughter, Jaslene, who is, oh-my-gosh, almost two … And I’ve only seen that little girl maybe a handful of times (the first time being right after she was born). I’m a horrible friend. At least I’ll be able to redeem myself, I hope. We’re both terribly excited to get out of the house, away from the husbands (not that we don’t love them!), and have a little girl time.
How often do you have girl time? Have you lost touch with an old friend that you wish you could have a lunch date with?

This sounds like so much fun! I have two best girl friends who live in the city here and I have time with them every week. After a lot of missed connections and too many calls back and forth I just decided we would have standing dates. Monday lunch is one of them, and Wednesday after dinner is the other. I love seeing my girls & I love not having to worry about the coordinating just as much lol
ever since I moved from NJ to NC in 2006, I’ve missed my girlfriends more than I ever ever thought I would. I did go back for a visit at the end of 2007 but it just wasn’t enough time. I miss going out to lunches or shopping trips for no reason. But I’m looking to go back early next year sometime.
enjoy your lunch!
I have girl time at least once a week, with at least one friend. There are several friends of mine who don’t live in my town anymore so we make up for it with phone calls and texts and try to see each other as often as possible.
I am still best friends with the same group I was best friends with in high school. We see each other all the time!
However there are definitely a lot of other friends I’d like to see more of that I’m no longer close to
Have fun with Jessa. Girl times are simply the best!
I would love to go out with my girlfriends but they live all over the country. I haven’t seen some of them for 2 years now since I graduated from college. That’s the downside of being deaf is that everyone is spread out.
