Getting to Know SV: My Week
As I sit in my cubicle at work, I realize how boring my life can be at times. I’m constantly doing something, but I have little time for fun. So what’s a day in the life of Megan like? Well, since you asked…
As most of you know, I’ve worked a full time job as an administrative assistant to an engineering group, Monday through Friday, for a year (and a day!) now. I wake up at the ungodly hour of 5:00 a.m. (Yes, it’s as bad as it sounds) and I’m usually at work by about 6:15 a.m. At work, I perform the exciting tasks of scheduling meetings, making copies, updating excel documents, etc… (It’s really not that bad, and I like that my job is pretty low-key most of the time.) Being that I get to work a little early, I’m able to leave around 2:30 p.m. (which is always nice). After arriving home at 3:00 p.m., I start on homework. As you know, I’m taking a full load of online classes this semester (Intro to Sociology, Human Growth & Development, Western World Lit., and Intro to Women’s Studies), so there is no time for relaxation. Okay, I lie. On Tuesdays and Fridays, I usually end up going to my brother-in-law’s basketball games, so I relax on the homework. On Mondays and Thursdays, I only do things that are necessary (because those are TV nights—How I Met Your Mother and Grey’s Anatomy). Wednesdays are the days that I really crack down on the reading and assignments. And I may or may not take homework breaks by playing the New Super Mario Bros. for Wii. Usually, during the week, I’m in bed by ten. Because I’m getting old. Or because I wake up seven hours later. Either way.
Ah, the weekends. I look forward to them. On Saturdays, I’m pretty useless. I always sleep in, and I rarely get any homework done. (Unless, of course, I waited until the last minute to write that 5-page paper and it’s due that night.) Usually, I try to talk Husband into going out for dinner and (sometimes) a movie. Or we stay home and watch old seasons of How I Met Your Mother (we’re finally on season five, though). On Sunday, I wake up as late as possible with just enough time to get ready for church (if I decide to go—which I haven’t for the past few Sundays). If I stay home, I just catch up on reading for school. At noon, Husband and I go to his great-grandma’s house for lunch. We do this every Sunday, and it’s always nice. We visit for about three hours, usually, and then we either go home and do nothing (or homework) OR go grocery shopping.
Really, that’s what my life is right now. It’s full of homework, real work, high school basketball games, HIMYM & Grey’s Anatomy, and going to bed early & waking up early.
If I had to live in your life for a week, what would it be like?

My life is pretty boring. Monday to Friday I’m up at 5:30, work from 7 to 3:30, get home at 4:30, throw something together for dinner. Evenings we’re either at the barn (usually MWF) from 6 pm to 10-ish or at something church-related (usually 5-10ish Thursday, my husband might also be there for meetings or practice or whatever Mondays or Wednesdays). If I get an evening at home I’m catching up on dishes/laundry/cleaning! Saturdays are cleaning/errand days and Sundays are church-related things from 8 am to 8 pm, with an occasional afternoon barn visit (or a nap!) squeezed in there
Life’s go-go-go these days … it’s hard to remember to take time to ENJOY life, eh?

Awww well I think your life is great.
My life is a mish-mash of school and work, friends and nights in, the gym and running outside. TV when I can! While I’m still in school full-time my daily routine really varies from day-to-day!

My weeks are solid school, school, and oh–did I mention school? My semester is crazy already, and it’s only the second full week of classes!
But I love that I finally know someone else who likes HIMYM–so I must know: what’s your true opinion of the Barney/Robin romance? I personally liked it at first, but it sort of fizzled out for me–I missed the old womanizing Barney!

Oh that’s a whole other blog post all in itself. I might write it up tonight. Your week sounds like a nice mixture of good and bad. The bad would be so much school work and then waking up at that ungodly hour. Blah!

Monday through Friday I am an office manager for an engineering consultancy company – and I completely relate to this sentence: “It’s really not that bad, and I like that my job is pretty low-key most of the time.”
Outside of hours spent at the office, my life is insane right now. I’m spending 30 hours a week rehearsing for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. I’m practicing, training and traveling with my team, and somehow my friends talked me into joining a Street Jazz class with them on my only night off. I try to fit most of my studying in during work hours or while on the train during my commute to and from the office, and am always recording The Biggest Loser and Grey’s Anatomy to watch in the wee hours of the morning. Sleep is hard to come by, but I’m not sure I’d change anything if I had the chance.

My life is pretty much the same. Really long days of work and class, homework when I can fit it in, and Saturdays for doing nothing.

My schedule has actually just settled down. Instead of writing a huge comment, I’ll post about my week over at my blog.

5AM!?! Maybe I shouldn’t complain anymore about waking up at 630AM. But I don’t get off early like you do which would be really nice instead of 5PM.
I definitely do not miss taking college classes! Are you almost done with college?
Brittney
HAHA, it would sound the same. Except turn 6:15-2:30pm into 8:30am-5:30pm.

My life sounds very similar to yours.
I wake up at 5:30 (it’s supposed to be 5am, but the snooze button is SO GREAT) and have to leave for work by 6:15. I drop the dog off at my mom’s, then drive for 1hr and 15 minutes to get to work. I work in Operations at a publishing company, and I don’t really know how to describe what I do, without a really long explanation.
I leave work at 4pm, drive 1hr 30min (or more) home, pick up the dog, go home to make dinner/clean/complain about the stuff I have to do/watch TV.
THRILLING.
Thursday = TV night, but we watch Office, 30Rock and It’s Always Sunny
Fun post!
