I once hated my freckles. I would have tried anything to get rid of them. My face was covered with them, and they became more prominent in the summer months. Over the years, they have faded, as has my hatred for them. Once, an elderly woman who lived across the street from us–her name was June May–invited us over. (We were always warned that she was a “mean, old woman,” but she was nothing but kind to us. She even asked us to call her “Grandma June.”) She told me that freckles were hundreds of beauty marks. Up until that point, I covered my face with makeup to hide my freckles. After the moment, I stopped wearing makeup, and I have embraced my freckles. (To this day, I don’t wear makeup. I think of my freckles as my “makeup.”) Once, they were constantly on my mind because I felt as if they weren’t me. Now, they are a part of me.
Is there a part of yourself that you have learned to embrace over the years? Is there a part that you wish you could embrace?

I love your freckles. I always wanted them as a kid – but my red haired brother got the freckles instead!
Ooh I have a similar post to this planned on my freckles for the next couple of weeks! I get COVERED in freckles in the summertime. Not just my face, but my arms, shoulders and KNEES too!
I also used to hate my freckles, but now I love them and think they make me unique
Not everyone is lucky enough to have them!
Your freckles are adorable. I’m glad you’ve embraced them.
When I was little I used to beg my mom to draw freckles on my face with eyeliner
PS – look at us posting this stuff today! Same wavelength!
I love your freckles but I hate mine ~ go figure! I wish I could embrace my hands – they’re so not feminine, it embarrases me sometimes.
I love this! I have freckles too and I sometimes wish I didn’t, when I see the clear, even complexion of celebrities and “pretty” girls – but now I’m with you on embracing them – they’re fun!
I smiled when I read this because my brother was the same way. He had a TON of freckles, especially in summer and he hated them too. I think they’ve grown on him now
I think your freckles look beautiful! They suit you very much
There’s too much emphasis nowadays on spotless skin.
I love your freckles! I think they look adorable!
I used to hate my freckles, too. And now they’re gone. I don’t spend much time in the sun, but if I did I wonder if they’d come back? I’m awfully pale and I burn so easily. :/
I do have a beauty mark below my lip on the left side of my face. I used to hate that, too. But now I hardly ever even see it, I’m just so used to it.
I love my freckles too. I had more on my face when I was younger but my shoulders were (and still are) the most freckled part of me. I don’t know when but at some point I realized I thought they were sexy and again, to this day I still think that’s the sexiest part of my body.
