Real Comfort

by Megan on September 28, 2010

I find real comfort in wrapping myself in a blanket and drinking a cup of hot tea while the windows in the house are open, a cool breeze flowing through. I find real comfort in wearing a cardigan and taking a walk across the fallen leaves, crunching beneath my feet. I find real comfort in appreciating the sun when it peeks at me from the sky, since it is only there for a short time each day. I find real comfort in standing on a rock after a hike and breathing in the fresh air. I find real comfort in sleeping in, enjoying the cold side of the pillow, and feeling the cold air sneaking through my sheets. I find real comfort in walking from the car to the warm indoors, teeth chattering, to warm my hands and soul with a warm cup of hot chocolate. I find real comfort in my feet rushing across the cold bathroom floor to start a warm bath.

I find comfort in Fall. Where do you find real comfort?

Love this post! So poetic. I find real comfort when I’m at home with my family : )

Your words simply made me feel better. All the things you mentioned are so cosy. I would add “I find real comfort in smelling the bread I just put in the oven and waiting for it to be ready to be enjoyed with a layer of butter”.

This is such a great writing prompt! I think I am going to use it for my 750words.com today.

Hot tea. With milk and sugar. Hot baths with a good book in a softly lit bathroom. To-do lists. Coloring with my own crayons.

I have to agree with you and do find a real comfort in fall too but unfortunately I live in the wrong place to have that. Can I come and visit!? :)

Love this post.

I also find comfort in curling up in bed while it’s dark and cold outside and turning to the first page of a brand new book. also the feeling of knowing I don’t have to work tomorrow.

Great post! It is definitely turning fall, and I love it. I think we are going to go hiking a few times this month to enjoy the colors in the smokies.
I find comfort in curling up with my husband and pup on cooler evenings to keep warm.
I also find comfort in toe socks, snuggly soft socks, and hoodies.

You painted such beautiful little pictures with this :) I find comfort in bit cups of loose-leaf tea, and in playing beautiful albums on loop. Lately my favourite is “Flaws” by Bombay Bicycle Club.

Love this post.

I find comfort in dogs who love to snuggle on the couch, warm blankets, good books, tea with honey on rainy or cold days & hugs from close friends.
