Wine and Love

Time for another installment of Nora’s Wine and Love series.

Things this week that make me want to drink a glass (or bottle!) of wine orange juice:

*I think I’m sick. I have all the symptoms of a cold–sore throat, chills, body aches, stuffy/runny nose, headache, clogged ears. Of course, it could just be allergies. Either way, it’s not fun at all. I woke up last night (well, this morning) at 1:30 a.m. and couldn’t fall asleep again until after three because of my stuffy nose. Then, I had to wake up at 4:30 a.m. for work. Yeah, that just wasn’t fun. I’m ready to go back to sleep.

Things I love this week:

*Did I mention that my nephew turned EIGHT MONTHS OLD on Monday? I really can’t believe it. He’s growing so fast. He yells, “mama!” when he wants my sister’s attention. He is basically crawling. (Still not completely on his knees, but he’s VERY close.) He’s starting to stand up while holding on to things (mostly because Mom can’t pick him up with her broken wrist, so he’ll pull himself up so that she can get to him). He waves and says “bye, bye.” He cries when I leave (which is both heartbreaking and adorable). He has two bottom teeth now. He drinks from a sippy cup (and loves it)! He’s still breastfeeding, but he also eats a huge variety of baby foods as well as some “adult” foods (like French fries, grits, and even small bites of scrambled eggs). At his last doctor’s visit (he went because he wasn’t feeling well), he weighed over 17 lbs. He goes back to the doctor early next month for his regular check-up. I’ll try to get a post up soon of some recent photos.

*My parents are doing well. Dad was cleared to go back to work and he’s walking fine on his broken leg & toe, so it looks like it healed up well. Mom is still in a cast for her broken wrist, but she doesn’t need surgery, so that’s good! Their insurance is also paying to fix their motorcycle, so it wasn’t totaled.

*Husband and I went to Dollywood on Sunday. His parents had gone over the weekend, and they received two free tickets, so they gave them to us. It was fun for us because we’ve never gone to an amusement park together. We rode one roller coaster (which rattled our brains a bit); we rode around on the train; we took a ride on the ferris wheel (which was the first time I had ever been on one–and it will be the last because I’m terrified of heights!); we ate greasy food, and I had some apple pumpkin fritters for dessert. Overall, it was a nice break from our normal routine. We’re hoping to go in November/December to see Christmas decorations.

*Ashlee is having a baby. SQUEEEE!

Wine & Love

Time for another installment of Nora’s Wine and Love series.

Things this week that make me want to drink a glass (or bottle!) of wine:

*Tuesday and Wednesday weren’t great. I just had this bad feeling in my gut and it caused some unwanted anxiety. Yesterday afternoon, I finally decided to just ignore it as much as I could, and I think it’s (mostly) gone. The feeling is still lingering, but I’m hoping it will disappear completely soon. (Also: I am Crazy Lady, let me tell you. I think the combination of PMS, my birth control, and anxiety was no good. Thank God my husband loves me as much as he does. I think I could have drove him mad the past couple days if he didn’t.)

Things I love this week:

*Four-day work weeks. I love working part-time now! My three-day weekend last week was lovely. This weekend, I’m going to dinner with my in-laws (Friday) since my brother-in-law is in town for his fall break; going to driving school (Saturday) for that pesky speeding ticket I got a couple months ago–boo; and visiting my nephew BECAUSE I HAVEN’T SEEN HIM SINCE SUNDAY. The weekend is a mixture of good and annoying, but I think I’ll still pull off a lovely weekend. (And at least driving school will remove the points from my license!)

*My husband. He puts up with Crazy Lady when she comes out. Seriously, he is the best. He also goes to school with me just so I’ll have someone to talk to during the three hour roundtrip.

*My classes. I really do love my classes, and I’m actually surprised that the semester is almost halfway over. I have about nine weeks until finals, but with fall break and Thanksgiving break, I only have eight classes of each class left. This will be a breeze! (Well, I hope.)

*Long drives with my husband. Last weekend, we decided to go on a random drive to Chattanooga. Instead of the normal way (that we drive three days a week for school), we took the long way over a couple of mountains. It was beautiful. Then, Sunday night, around seven, we just decided to hop in the car and go for another drive with the windows down. This is why I love fall. We get to spend some quality time together, and we actually don’t mind long drives!

*It’s my weekend! Well, in about four hours, at least.

Time for another installment of Nora’s Wine and Love series.

Things this week that make me want to drink a glass (or bottle!) of wine:

*I got my first speeding ticket Wednesday. (First time I’ve ever been pulled over, actually.) Somehow, I didn’t cry in front of the state trooper, but as soon as he walked away from my car, I started bawling. And I continued to cry for about an hour after that. It was ridiculous, and I’ll probably have to go to driving school to keep the points off my license. I figured he would let me off with a stern warning due to having such a good record, but I guess not. Ah, well.

*I’m going to the lady doctor today for my annual check-up. Enough said. (Not that it’s bad. It’s just not necessarily a fun time.)

*Waking up at 4:30 a.m. this week. I thought it would be a genius idea to wake up earlier. Monday was awesome because I was wide awake all day. By Wednesday, though, I was miserable. Ready for sleep by 7:30 p.m.

Things I love this week:

*Due to going to the lady doctor this morning, I don’t have to work, which means I’m sleeping in until 6:30 a.m. (Yes, this post was really written Wednesday night.)

*HARRY POTTER TODAY. I’m finally going to see it after my appointment! I’m beyond excited!

*Finally making a decision.

*Vacation at the beach in a little over a week. YES.

*My haircut.

So, although the speeding ticket really put a damper on things, I do have a lot to be happy about! How has your week gone?

Wine & Love

Time for another installment of Nora’s Wine and Love series.

Things this week that make me want to drink a glass (or bottle!) of wine:

*Counting calories. Just no. (Post to come tomorrow, hopefully, if I can gather my thoughts on this topic.)

*This has been a tiring week. I woke up not feeling well at all Monday, so I stayed home from work. Now, I just can’t believe it’s ONLY Thursday. It’s most likely going by slowly because this weekend is a 3-day weekend, but I just wish Friday afternoon would get here already.

Things I love this week:

*Twitter and blog friends. Okay, so this happened last week, but on Friday night, I was just desperately wanting a girls’ night. Some lovely ladies (Erin, Ashley, Stephany, Erin, Mandy, Tabitha, and San) on twitter pulled together and we had an impromptu winetoreach party, and it was just what I needed. Thanks, ladies!

*Google+. Could it be the next Facebook? I’m liking it already. (I also like the fact that it’s invite-only right now, so many of my twitter/blog friends are a part of it!)

*The fact that next week will be a quiet week in the office is really exciting. I’m thinking a lot of people will be out of the office.

*Hayden is 14 lbs, 9 oz. and 24.5 inches long. He is a growing boy! (He also rolled over for the first time last week!)

How has your week been?
