I never wear dresses. Really. That’s exactly why I decided to take part in Kyla’s Six Months, Six Dresses challenge. I never got around to posting photos of myself in my May dress, but I’m going ahead and posting June’s dress.
Yesterday evening, I was home by myself, so I decided to try a little photoshoot. I’ve never used my self timer before, so it was interesting, to say the least. I have some practice ahead of me.

I love that the dress is a summer color, and even though it’s short, it works because I’m only 5’1″.
Though it’s blurry, I adore this photo.
Dress: Ruche
Shoes: Bakers (My wedding shoes, actually)
Necklace: Etsy (It has a custom engraving that says “If a dream could last forever, I would hold you here. M + J” for mine and Husband’s song.)

For the next six months, a la Kyla Roma, I’m going to attempt to buy six new dresses. The only dresses currently in my closet are my wedding dress and my high school prom dress. I need to spruce up my wardrobe a bit, so this will be good for me*.
Next month, Husband and I are going on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina for our second wedding anniversary. (I will go into more details as it gets closer.) I’ve been on a search for a dress to take with us in case we go anywhere that is semi-nice, but I wanted something that I could wear again this summer. As I browsed American Eagle’s website (which is where I buy most of my clothes lately, though I’m thinking of going with something more mature, such as Anne Taylor Loft, in the near future), I found a dress that fits my criteria. (I usually don’t like their dresses, so I wasn’t planning on having any luck.) Of course, I fell in love with one dress.

Since the dress is a solid, grey color, I thought a colored shoes would go well with it. Since the only heels I own are black and white (yes, I only own two pairs of heels, and one pair is from my wedding day), I’m going to have to purchase a pair. My budget is low (trying for around $50 or less), and I’ve been told yellow or red would go well with the dress. Any suggestions? I was thinking of something like these Nine West heels, but I’m not sure if the yellow is too bright.

Mostly, I just want to make it dressy enough for a somewhat nice dinner. I’m open to any suggestions for heels (or even flats!) and/or jewelry!
*Don’t worry. I will be posting a picture of myself in the dress, hopefully!
I have a dilemma, and I need your help. My one year wedding anniversary is coming up (June 17), and Husband and I have possible plans of going out to a nice dinner at Hennen’s in Downtown Chattanooga.. However, I have nothing nice to wear. It’s not an extremely fancy place, but I’d still like to wear a nice dress. Husband isn’t any help–he’s only seen me in two dresses (and one was my wedding dress), so he has no idea. Honestly, I’m not much of a help to myself since I rarely ever wear dresses.
I’m going to throw a few ideas out there, and then maybe you can help. I don’t want anything too expensive. (Hopefully less than $50, honestly.) I’ll still need to purchase shoes as well because all of my heels are gone–except the white pair I wore to my wedding. Since I’m extremely petite (5’1″ and ~105 lbs … and I’m small-chested), I can’t wear anything too long; Husband doesn’t like anything too short either, though. So, I’m thinking just above the knee, perhaps? Also, I’m extremely fair-skinned, so I don’t look great in yellow. (Is this too picky?)

Husband and I actually agreed to liking this dress, and since it’s only $28.50 at Macy’s. It’s not in my size, though, and I’m not sure where the nearest Macy’s is–if we even have one nearby!
Forever 21 has a dress that I love (for only $24.80!), but I’m not sure if the color would wash me out too much. (Like I said, fair-skinned.)

I’m also trying to stay far away from big prints, but I’m open to ideas. Let me know what you think!
(Maybe Apricot could help out on this one?)

Last week–or the week before, I can’t remember–Josh and I went on a date, and I decided to stop by the mall to search for a new pair of jeans. I usually shop at American Eagle, but I get discouraged fairly easy when it comes to shopping. At only 5’1″ with a petite frame, it’s hard to find the perfect-fitting jeans. After about twenty minutes in AE, I gave up. There was one pair of jeans, though, that I loved and they were on clearance. I tried on the regular (which usually fits okay), and they fit everywhere but the length. So! I decided to splurge a little and buy myself a new outfit via AE.com, and they had the jeans in my size!

AE Midnight Flare Jean. $49.50. $29.95.

AE Burnout Henley T. $24.50. $19.95.
Of course, I had to buy a couple of tanks, too–I like to layer.

AE Mesh Trim Tank in Peach Pink. $17.50.

Aerie Rib Lace Tank in White. $19.50. $14.95.
I just hope the jeans fit!
